Tips On Decorating Your Baby’s Room Yourself

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

Coming up with a wonderful baby room does not require you to spend a fortune. All it takes is a little creativity, plus a lot of eagerness to pull off designing a room for your bundle of joy. If you’re ready, whip out your notebook and pencil and take note of the following helpful tips.

Paint the room with bright colors instead of uninteresting ones. And the walls do not have to be painted in one solid shade. Try to paint them in 2-3 different colors that go well together. You can look at interior decorating magazines for the in colors these days. Or you can also use the internet as a resource for great baby room wall color ideas.

The ceiling should also be colorful and interesting. Remember that each time your baby stays in the room, he or she will spend most of it staring upwards. Install up to date chandeliers in bold colors, ones that look like mobiles. If you can’t execute a mural on the ceiling, go for appliques instead. They’re available at home decor accents shops, and may also be used to embellish walls.

Your bundle of joy’s room need not have everything in it matching to look clean and fresh. You can throw in an array of colors and textures. However, always go for ones that harmonize each other. Also, you may steer clear of conventional colors or decorations. For example, the bedding collection may instead be of bold shades or prints, rather than be printed with cartoon characters.

When it comes to the furnishings, aside from looks and function, make sure they’re safe for use in a baby’s room. They should have sturdy and stable bases. Avoid ones with glass materials in them, as well as jagged or sharp fittings. You want to have baby-friendly furnishings when your little one begins to learn how to walk.

For items like cribs, cabinets, shelves and others, it’s best to go for those with good quality. This will ensure they’ll be around for the years to come. If too busy to visit home supplies stores, the net is a great place to do your shopping. In there you can find practically everything you need: designer baby bedding, toys, carpets, window blinds, and many more.

If you’re on a budget, it’s wise to rummage for quality items at garage sales or flea markets. But ensure that the items you will purchase meet the requirements on safety. Your little one’s safety should always be a priority. Even if you’re trying not to overshoot your budget for constructing a baby’s room.
